Jasmin Brown
NC 100 Programs and Engagement Associate
Jasmin supports the growth and deployment of the Portia Parris Fellowship Program (formerly NC LEAP) as well as strengthening our organizational understanding of rural community development, supplementing our growing capacity-building services, and supporting other projects through planning, facilitation, community outreach, and timely communications.
Through her persistent and diligent work, she aims to be an agent of change and an active voice in designing spaces and opportunities that allows underserved persons and communities the ability to thrive in all the areas in which they have been overlooked and denied equitable opportunities.
Background:
Jasmin was born and raised in #Durham, North Carolina, and has a passion and desire to learn about rural communities like Rockingham County.
She has a passion for civic engagement that has fostered, strengthened, and advanced Black communities that represent the rich and diverse African Diaspora across the state of North Carolina.
She earned both a BA (English Literature) and a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University.
Jasmin has worked in the nonprofit sector for five years, and in doing so, has developed a strong sense of devotion to community engagement and creating avenues to support and build capacity for marginalized communities.
When Jasmin is not working in the community, her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling and exploring various states and countries, and learning how to garden.
